Case Studies

Harrods, London

We were appointed quantity surveyor responsible for commercial control on this complex project. The project involved the removal and replacement of escalators and high specification fit out of the escalators and atrium within the property of a very demanding, successful supplier of luxury goods.

To add to the complexity, all the work needed to be carried out within a live store. Great effort was made substantiating the account and extracting the same substantiation and mitigating cost exposure from the supply chain.

Waldorf Astoria Luxury Hotel, UAE

We worked with the contractor on this luxury hotel development to help them prepare a claim for an extension of time and associated costs. Our support ensured that the project was closed out in accordance with contractual obligations, as well as meeting the standards of the contractor’s internal management system.

We are also responsible for identifying changes, and substantiating variations in order to mitigate costs.

Damac Tower, London

Our Director Scott Coulton provided lead contract/claims advice to the Employer at its the £265 million , 2 tower, 78 storey luxury residential Project in London. In his role, Scott was responsible for advising the Employer on all claims and disputes arising.

Scott provided contract administration advice of the JCT DB 2011 Building Contract and following forensic analysis of the Contractor’s claims, he provided independent advice to the Employer in regard of the Contractor’s entitlement to its prolongation and disruption cost claims.

Gautrain Rapid Rail Link, South Africa

Provided support to a delay expert appointed in regard to the clients claim for delay and disruption. The dispute was in relation to the design, construction and commissioning of the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link.

Responsibilities involved the management of the incumbent planning support team, supporting the expert in the writing of the delay analysis report, management of the project contemporaneous records and providing solutions and further advice to the client.

Zubair Oilfield Development, Iraq

This project was in relation to the engineering, construction and commissioning of a $1 Billion commercial oil production facility in Iraq. Our MD, Scott Coulton, was involved in the preparation of an extension of time claim with specific responsibilities of undertaking the investigation into the contractor’s proposed delay events, evaluating the entitlement of potential variations.

Scott also provided a commercial evaluation of client changes to establish cause and effect and demonstrate the contractor’s entitlement to time and associated costs.
